About
Corporation objectives:
(i) To advance education by providing workshops, seminars and conferences on topics relating to atheism, agnosticism, humanism and skepticism.
(ii) To establish and operate a resource library for materials pertaining to atheism, agnosticism, humanism and skepticism.
(iii) To educate the public through open dialogue between groups of various faiths and beliefs on topics related to religion and secular worldviews.
(iv) To provide educational, volunteer, and counseling services for students in the community.
The FAC is currently engaged in the following projects:
1. Renegade Radio: A nationally syndicated campus radio show promoting science, reason, freedom of thought and secularism.
2. Freethought Library: At over 5,000 books, FAC maintains the largest lending library of freethought literature, including sections on atheism, humanism, evolution, cognition, and general science.
3. A regular podcast featuring informal discussion by FAC members on a wide range of topics, like public funding of religious schools, the boundaries of freedom of expression and religious accommodations and multiculturalism.
4. Fathom – a community for freethinkers: our major project right now, with the aim of giving freethinkers around the country a place to call home.
5. Providing humanist councilors and officiants to campus chaplaincy associations. We have had our first success with the University of Toronto chaplaincy association.
6. FAC provides the freethinker position on social and political issues of concern to Canadians.
