The Freethought Association of Canada is a non-profit organization promoting education and outreach and the principles of various secular worldviews (humanism, non-theism, skepticism, atheism, etc.). We were the leading organizers of the wildly successful Canadian Atheist Bus Campaign, for which we received national and international press. The now infamous “There’s Probably no God” ads were seen across Canada on busses, subways, and streetcars in some of Canada’s largest cities.
Now that the bus campaign has concluded, we are hard at work on a new campaign that will create a comprehensive online presence specifically for Canadian freethinkers and our allies. The website will be a community networking tool, with nation-wide events calendars for every freethinker-related event from the smallest campus book club night to major conferences and lectures featuring celebrity-level speakers.
A directory of all of the freethinker groups and even atheist-friendly businesses will be included, so you will know how to get involved locally as well as nationally. Forums, original content blogs and podcasts, videos and other multimedia will all be there too – so from Chicoutimi to the Kootenays, from Pelham to Inuvik, all Canadian freethinkers will finally be able to come together to celebrate what we have in common, and debate our differences, all in a welcoming environment.
Those uncertain about their beliefs or non-beliefs, parents, members of the LGBTQ community, and many other prominent sub-groups of freethinkers will have their own place within the site as well.
Currently we are in the design phase for the site, but we are always looking for ideas for content, as well as individuals who would like to be a part of building this historic community. Check out our Get Involved page on this website for more information on how you can help.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments, or to let us know you’d like to get involved!
